LEFTON COLLECTIBLES:
Lefton China was a leading producer of ceramic giftware. At one time there were more than 10,000 retail locations in the U.S. distributing Lefton products. Lefton China produced a large array of collectibles: marmalade jars, figurines, mugs, vases, music boxes, lighthouses, cookie jars, teapots, pitchers, shakers, wall pockets and head vases among other things.
George Zoltan ALefton was a Hungarian who immigrated from Hungary in the 1930s. His hobby was collecting fine porcelain. After World War II he began importing poircelain for American Consumers. He became unofficially known as "The China King." His factories were located in Japan and helped revive the post-war Japanese ceramic industry. Lefton China was produced in Japan until the 1970s. In the 1980s operations wre expanded to Taiwan and Malaysia. Lefton died in 1996 but the company continued operating until 2005 when it was sold to OMT Enterprises and moved to 2001.
